Learn to Swim classes offered in July
The Town of Clifton Park will be opening the Town pools beginning on Memorial Day weekend and the popular Learn to Swim program will return with two sessions of classes. Historically, the Town pools open on Memorial Day weekend. The last two seasons were shorter than normal due to Covid restrictions and a smaller number of available lifeguards.
“The Town is fortunate to have dedicated lifeguards returning to work at our three Town pools, allowing us to open one pool on Memorial Day Weekend, said Supervisor Phil Barrett. We have operated the pools and provided swim lessons throughout the pandemic, when outdoor recreational activities for families were more important than ever.”
Registration for the pools will begin on May 17th. The schedule for each pool will be the following:
1. Country Knolls- May 29th- August 21st
2. Barney Road Pool- June 5th-August 21st
3. Locust Lane Pool – June 23rd-August 21st
The August 21st closing date is tentative, based on staffing levels. If the Town has enough lifeguards employed to keep one or more pools open later than August 21st, we will adjust to the available staffing levels and continue to operate the pools for Clifton Park families past August 21st.
The Town will also offer our popular Learn To Swim program again in 2022. Registration will open on May 23rd. The first week of registration will be for Clifton Park families only. The lessons will be conducted at the Country Knolls Pool and the schedule will be the following:
1. Session 1 – July 11th- July 22nd
2. Session 2 – July 25th- August 5th
As previously publicized, the Town of Clifton Park and Saratoga County have partnered to offer free lifeguard training in June. The training will take place at the Locust Lane Pool. Following a successful completion of the course an individual is eligible to begin work immediately. The training schedule will be the following:
June 6th – June 10th 530pm-730pm
June 11th & 12th – 10am-430pm
“The partnership with Saratoga County to offer free lifeguard training will generate more interest from young people who want to learn a lifesaving skill and utilize the opportunity for employment, said Supervisor Barrett. Proactively eliminating as many barriers as possible to increase participation in lifeguard training is an important investment in our community.”
